Asset Builder of the Month

One of Community First’s main goals is to connect youth with their community. Research shows that the more connected youth are to their families, schools, teachers, peers, coaches and community members, the more likely they will be to make healthier life choices.

Asset Builder of the Month is a new program designed to educate the entire community about asset building. The framework of developmental assets® identify crucial relationships, values, self perceptions, opportunities, experiences and personal qualities that children and adolescents need to grow up healthy, caring and responsible.

Each month a local business or organization will display a Community First sponsorship banner and informational board, distribute informational materials and promote one of the 40 Developmental Assets® in their business. Look for the great giveaways that support developmental assets in each sponsoring business or organization. Child has a lesson to learn how to break a board. After breaking board they will receive a uniform and a month of free lessons.

PNC - May / June 2011
Asset # 32: Planning and Decision Making

During July, PNC will help youth to plan ahead and initiate a program to help them to learn to save now. Stop in with your child anytime and open a savings account, PNC will provide them with a piggy bank to get them started on learning to save.
