Asset Campaign in our Schools
During the 2006-07 school year, Community First has focused on educating students, parents and our school staff on the importance of youth developmental assets.
Student Campaign
Kicking off the the 2006-07 school year, Community First in conjunction with the Hudson City School District and Hudson Montessori asked each school principal/School head to
select one of the 40 developmental assets as their building theme for the year. Banners stating each schools asset adorns a wall in the school entranceways. Here are the assets being focused on at each school:
Evamere - I care about helping others and will always try my best
Hudson El - Be Safe...Be Smart
McDowell - We are excited to learn
East Woods - We are proud to serve others
Middle School - We plan ahead and make the right choices
High School - Respect yourself, your school and each other
Hudson Montessori -We care about our school, our education and ourselves
Staff Campaign
Teams from every school were professionally trained about asset building by the Search Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. Community First is working with principals/staff/administrators to incorporate the 40 developmental assets into everyday learning. This training was made possible by a portion of a grant provided by the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation.
Parent Campaign
K-5 – an asset newsletter with tips about the developmental assets go home bi-weekly.
The Healthy Youth for a Healthy Community Bulletin featuring all of the local activities
offered by our partners goes home with students on a quarterly basis as a tool to find all Hudson youth events and activities all in one place.
Community First is organizing and partnering with many community organizations to create
a Spring ’07 Speakers’ Series. Some speakers already lined up include
